Kashi Vishwanath Mandir History: कई बार तोडा और बनाया गया मंदिर –
मुगलों के काल में काशी विश्वनाथ मंदिर को कई बार लूटा गया था। हालांकि मुगल सम्राट अकबर ने मूल मंदिर के निर्माण की अनुमति दी थी, लेकिन उनके परपोते औरंगजेब ने बाद में मंदिर को नष्ट कर दिया और वहां एक मस्जिद का निर्माण किया। जिसका नाम ज्ञानवापी मस्जिद है। वर्तमान में बना मंदिर का निर्माण इंदौर की रानी महान रानी अहिल्या बाई होल्कर ने करवाया था।
भगवान शिव आए थे रानी के सपनों में –
जैसा की हमने बताया रानी अहल्या बाई होल्कर द्वारा इस मंदिर का निर्माण किया गया था। ऐसा माना जाता है कि रानी के सपने में भगवान शिव प्रकट हुए थे। रानी ने इसे मंदिर का पुनर्निर्माण करके और इसके लिए धन प्रदान करके काशी की महिमा को बनाए रखने के लिए इसका निर्माण किया गया। यहां तक कि इंदौर के महाराजा रणजीत सिंह ने भी 15.5 मीटर खंभों के चार सोने के निर्माण के लिए लगभग टन सोने का योगदान दिया था।
आक्रमण से बचने के लिए छुपा दिया गया था शिवलिंग –
ऐसा कहा जाता है कि जब औरंगजेब द्वारा विनाश की खबर पंडित के कानों में पड़ी तो उन्होंने शिवलिंग को छिपाने और आक्रमण से बचाने के लिए कुएं में छलांग लगा दी। मंदिर और मस्जिद के अवशेषों के बीच अभी भी कुआं पाया जा सकता है। इस कुएं को ज्ञानवापी यानी ज्ञान के कुएं के नाम से जाना जाता है।
मंदिर के बाहर शनि देव के मंदिर बनने का कारण –
शनि देव को भगवान शिव की तलाश में काशी में प्रवेश करना था। लेकिन उन्हें मंदिर में प्रवेश करने की अनुमति नहीं थी, इसलिए उन्हें शिव की तलाश में मंदिर के बाहर साढ़े सात साल तक रहना पड़ा। यही कारण है कि काशी विश्वनाथ मंदिर के बाहर आपको शनिदेव का मंदिर देखने को मिल जाएगा।
मंदिर के शीर्ष पर छत्र के दर्शन से होती हैं इच्छाएं पूरी –

कशी वो जगह जहां पड़ी थी सूर्य की पहली किरण –
ऐसा माना जाता है कि पृथ्वी के निर्माण के दौरान सूर्य की पहली किरण काशी यानी वाराणसी पर पड़ी थी। भगवान शिव को स्वयं इस शहर और यहां रहने वाले लोगों के संरक्षक के रूप में जाना जाता है क्योंकि ऐसा कहा जाता है कि भगवान स्वयं कुछ समय के लिए मंदिर में रहे थे। उनकी मर्जी के बिना ग्रह भी अपनी मर्जी से काम नहीं कर सकते। इसलिए काशी को शिव की नगरी के नाम से जाना जाता है।
पृथ्वी का अंत आने पर भगवान शिव करेंगे रक्षा –
एक और चौंकाने वाला तथ्य जो आपको हैरान कर देगा कि ऐसा माना जाता है कि जब पूरी दुनिया अपने अंत के करीब होगी, बाबा विश्वनाथ यानी भगवान शिव अपने त्रिशूल की नोक पर काशी की रक्षा करेंगे। साथ ही, काशी की रक्षा करने के इस कृत्य का उल्लेख हिंदू पौराणिक कथाओं में उर्ध्वमनय के रूप में किया गया है।

Many times the temple was broken and built –
The Kashi Vishwanath temple was looted many times during the Mughal period. Although the Mughal emperor Akbar gave permission for the construction of the original temple, his great-grandson Aurangzeb later destroyed the temple and built a mosque there. Whose name is Gyanvapi Masjid. The present temple was built by the great Rani Ahilya Bai Holkar, the queen of Indore.
Lord Shiva had come in the dream of the queen –
As we mentioned, this temple was built by Rani Ahalya Bai Holkar. It is believed that Lord Shiva appeared in the queen’s dream. The queen built it to maintain the glory of Kashi by rebuilding the temple and providing funds for it. Even Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Indore contributed nearly tons of gold for the construction of the four gold pillars of 15.5 m.
Shivling was hidden to avoid attack
It is said that when the news of the destruction by Aurangzeb came to the ears of the Pandit, he jumped into the well to hide the Shivling and protect it from attack. The well can still be found between the remains of the temple and the mosque. This well is known as Gyanvapi i.e. the well of knowledge.
Kashi The place where the first ray of the sun lay
It is believed that during the formation of the earth the first ray of sun fell on Kashi i.e. Varanasi. Lord Shiva himself is known as the protector of this city and the people living here as it is said that the Lord himself stayed in the temple for some time. Without their consent even the planets cannot work on their own accord. Hence Kashi is known as the city of Shiva.
The reason for the construction of Shani Dev’s temple outside the temple –
Shani Dev had to enter Kashi in search of Lord Shiva. But they were not allowed to enter the temple, so they had to stay outside the temple for seven and a half years in search of Shiva. This is the reason why you will get to see Shani Dev’s temple outside the Kashi Vishwanath temple.

When the end of the earth comes, Lord Shiva will protect
Another shocking fact that will amaze you is that it is believed that when the whole world is nearing its end, Baba Vishwanath i.e. Lord Shiva will protect Kashi at the tip of his trident. Also, this act of protecting Kashi is mentioned in Hindu mythology as Urdhvamanaya.
